Elewit launches the sixth edition of its Venture Client Programme to validate and integrate new technologies within Redeia

Elewit, Redeia’s technology platform, has officially opened applications for the sixth edition of its Venture Client Programme for startups. The submission deadline ends on Wednesday, 30 April 2025. As Elewit’s flagship corporate venturing initiative, the programme is designed to seamlessly integrate cutting-edge solutions into Redeia and its subsidiaries. The goal is to drive innovation in the operational processes of the electricity and telecommunications sectors, where the company operates.

The programme specifically seeks solutions that address key challenges such as optimising electrical grid infrastructure and asset management, electricity system operation, and renewable energy integration; new services and business models; human safety and health, and sustainable development. To this end, Elewit focuses on new technologies with disruptive use cases, such as artificial intelligence, immersive technologies and robotics, advanced data processing, and the Internet of Things, among others.

Through this initiative, Elewit, in collaboration with Redeia’s business units, identifies use cases that can be transformed into pilot projects to validate emerging technologies. Thus, the programme offers selected startups the opportunity to develop pilot projects in real-world environments. They will also receive tailored mentoring in key areas such as finance, legal, sales, internationalisation, and fundraising, customised to their specific needs.

This approach enables entrepreneurs to refine their technological solutions and, potentially, become suppliers for Redeia. At the same time, Redeia benefits from a streamlined process to integrate new technologies into its management, maintenance, and control processes.

The programme consists of three phases over a total duration of five months: defining the proof-of-concept scope, launching pilot projects, and evaluating results. Thanks to its agile methodology, over 80% of projects from the past five editions were launched within 100 days of initial contact. Silvia Bruno, Chief Innovation & Technology Officer at Elewit, emphasises: ‘Collaboration between corporations and startups is more essential than ever, as startups are a continuous driver of innovation. With this new programme, we are reaffirming our commitment to providing the space, experience, and resources they need to into real solutions. With five editions under our belt, we know that these collaborations can make a significant impact in the sectors where we operate: electricity and telecommunications.’

Since its first edition in 2020, this initiative has become a benchmark in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. In total, Redeia, through Elewit, has invested over €2.5 million and supported the development of 45 projects, 41% of which have been successfully integrated within its business areas. All of this has been made possible through Elewit’s collaboration with 38 startups, both national and international, from 13 different countries. These startups are at the forefront of cutting-edge technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence, digital twins, edge computing, advanced data analytics and cybersecurity, among others.

To date, the projects developed under the Venture Client programmes include initiatives such as developing hardware solutions to make virtual reality an interactive and immersive experience; data processing automation; cybersecurity in communication networks for substations; and technological applications to revitalise marine ecosystems affected by electrical cables, among many others. These have been carried out by Neurodigital, Skootik, DeNexus, and Ocean Ecostructures, respectively.
