Elewit has launched the 5th edition of the Venture Client programme, one of its pioneering initiatives for driving innovation with the aim of making progress with the energy transition and connectivity. In the framework of this programme, they search for startups offering technological solutions to Redeia’s challenges, and Ocean Ecostructures is one of the startups selected for this edition.
Technological solutions for a healthier ocean
Ocean Ecostructures focuses on developing nature-based technological solutions that attract and regenerate marine biodiversity. Their work aims to offset the impact of human activities by creating innovative biomimetic infrastructures.
These structures combine marine regeneration technology with robotic monitoring by submarine drones and use Artificial Intelligence (AI) for data analysis and reporting.
'Our mission is the large scale restoration of marine ecosystems and biodiversity. We have set a goal to revitalise up to 20,000 marine spaces by 2030, in an initiative that aims to ensure that human activities in marine environments are respectful of the oceans,' explained Ignasi Ferrer, cofounder of Ocean Ecostructures.
The origins of Ocean Ecosystems
Ocean Ecostructures is a Bluetech company founded on 17 July 2020. The idea for Ocean Ecostructures originated in Barcelona when its founders—Ignasi Ferrer, Mireia de Mas, and Anna Lloveras—combined their expertise in oceanography, biology, and business management. Their collaboration aimed to create an innovative and scalable solution that could transform maritime infrastructures into true blue oases.
Since that time, thanks to their pioneering biomimetic infrastructure technologys, Ocean Ecostructures has succeeded in combining marine regeneration, robotics, and artificial intelligence to monitor and optimise the positive impact on marine ecosystems in a single solution. By contributing to the conservation and regeneration of the oceans, Ocean Ecostructures has made significant strides toward a more sustainable future for the marine environment.
As a result, with a clear focus on revitalising the oceans, the company is championing the change towards more environmentally-friendly marine infrastructures, using avant-garde technological tools to maximise efficiency and the scope of their impact.
The participation of Ocean Ecostructures in the 5th edition of Elewit's Venture Client programme will enable them to scale their technology and broaden their impact on marine ecosystems, since the programme gives startups access to strategic resources, technology experts, and opportunities to undertake large-scale tests with their innovations. This collaboration is a magnificent opportunity to demonstrate the transformational impact of their innovative solutions into marine infrastructures at the global level, taking a step towards marine sustainability.
