Women continue to be under-represented in decision-making roles, in key productive sectors for development, such as science and technology. In the energy sector, women represent 29% of the workforce, and in technology and telecommunications, just 17%. Only 14% of technology companies have a woman among their founders. The gender gap remains wide, but at Redeia (parent company of Elewit), diversity is a key factor for growth: it is one of the only companies in the IBEX-35 that has a completely gender-equal Board of Directors and, as an objective for 2030, aims for the management team to be gender-equal too.
In different areas and role, women at Elewit make a mark on our company and are protagonists in driving technological innovation within the electricity sector. Therefore, on a day as important as International Women’s Day, we would like to showcase their talent, dedication and contribution in their own words:
As Chief Innovation & Technology Officer at Redeia and Manager at Elewit, Silvia Bruno is a public works engineer and materials engineer, promoting the adoption of new technologies to tackle environmental and connectivity challenges. “I support and promote new technologies to turn them into opportunities and initiatives that will drive Redeia to be a key actor in the ecological transition and universal connectivity, facilitating decarbonisation of the economy and eliminating the digital divide,” said Silvia.
Our Stakeholder Relationship & Impact Manager, Diana Ortega is an economist and plays a key role in the creation of strategic alliances. “I work on keeping communication channels open so that exchanges of knowledge can flow and new alliances can be created that will enable us to achieve our objectives, positively affecting Redeia and our society,” explained Diana.
Sara Lázaro, as Communications Partner and telecommunications engineer, leader of the communications vertical with an inclusive and collaborative vision. “I contribute to technological development with a broad and diverse vision,” explained Sara. “Innovation is not about money, it’s about people, and I firmly believe that through collaboration, we are capable of anything,” she concludes.
Elena de Benavides, economist and Head of Corporate Venture & Innovation Ecosystems, connects the organisation's needs and challenges with the capabilities of the global technology ecosystem. “At Redeia, we facilitate new forms, visions, partners, and relationship models and, therefore, transform culture,” Elena emphasised.
As Innovation Operations Manager, industrial organisation engineer and IT engineer, María Piñole leads management of innovation projects in a cross-disciplinary way. “I run the Innovation Project Management Office at Redeia, we interact with and support the entire company,” explained Maria.
Our Investment Associate, Blanca Sastre, is an economist and looks for the best founding partners with a desire to change the world. “This approach to start-ups gives us a greater view of new technologies being developed in the sector and of what’s to come in the future,” said Blanca.
We recognise and value the immense talent and diversity of the experiences that our women bring to our team. Today and every day, we celebrate their daily leadership, dedication, and contributions. Because diversity is the key to innovation and technology advancements. Happy International Women’s Day!
