Elewit invests in Splight technology to improve the transmission capacity of the electricity grid
Elewit has reinforced its commitment to the energy transition by investing in Splight. Therefore, it has established a strategic collaboration that seeks to minimise potential grid congestions and constraints upon renewable generation using the startup's technology.
Splight technology uses machine learning algorithms, AI, and real-time data to boost grid capacity and reliability and resolve electricity grid congestions.

Through its Corporate Venture Capital, Elewit seeks to promote and explore developing new businesses that offer solutions to key challenges facing Redeia companies. One of this investment vehicle’s most recent targets was Splight, a pioneering AI startup that addresses the global and multigenerational challenge of clean energy at scale. In this regard, Splight's solution is a strategic fit within the realm of energy transition and the integration of renewable energies.

Splight was founded in 2020 by Fernando Llaver, Thomas Vadora y Carlos Caldart. Their mission was optimising the electrical energy transmission capacity by minimising potential grid congestions and constraints on renewable energy generation.

To that end, its technology uses machine learning algorithms, AI, and real-time data to maximise grid capacity while ensuring the reliability of the electricity grid and resolving grid congestion. This enables larger amounts of energy to be injected into the existing transmission infrastructure and reduces curtailments of renewable energy generation.

It is also a cutting-edge, software-based technology that allows for the management of latent transmission capacity in the electricity grid without the need for physical upgrades. Furthermore, compared to existing hardware solutions, the implementation of this digital solution only takes a fraction of the time and money.

It is noteworthy that, thanks to its innovative solution, Splight ended the year with a $12M funding round in which Elewit participated.. This injection of funds will allow it to continue developing its technology and reinforcing its project.
