The project has enabled Red Eléctrica to optimise the use of the open-source software GridCal as an interface for the design and simulation of electrical grids, complementing the set of tools used in national electrical planning analysis.
Red Eléctrica, Elewit and SHEMAR are working together on the CICA Project, installing composite insulated cross arms to reduce environmental impact, improve efficiency and ensure a more sustainable and safer energy infrastructure.
The collaboration includes Terna Forward, the Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) vehicle of Terna, the Italian transmission system operator (TSO). As a result, Redeia’s technology platform is strengthening its CVC portfolio, focused on Seed and Series A startups. This portfolio already contains seven well-known emerging companies like HESStec, OktoGrid, and Nearby Computing.
Specialised in applying AI to the maintenance of linear structures in the electrical and railway industries, Unusuals took part in the first edition of Elewit’s Venture Client programme. It also won the Data Challenge in 2020 and is currently one of Red Eléctrica’s suppliers.

Within the DALIA project, Elewit and Aerolaser System are creating a digital twin of the entire electricity transmission infrastructure managed by Red Eléctrica. The aim is to improve efficiency and safety in infrastructure maintenance and incident prevention.
Elewit, in collaboration with Red Eléctrica's Grid Access team, is managing innovation projects to evaluate the impact of generative AI applied to the department's day to day processes involving document analysis.
Elewit has a stake in the capital for technology-based startups that strategically align with the ecological transition, and HESStec's hybrid storage solution is one of the company's main investments.
The Universidad Politécnica de Valencia's proposal was the winner of Elewit's innovation challenge to monitor the presence of SO2 in SF6-filled GIS substation compartments using THz spectroscopy.
